The Bathurst 12 Hour race saw Tony & Klark Quinn continue their endurance motorsport success with another podium finish in the team VIP Frosty Paws entry
Joined by long term associate Grant Denyer as the third driver in team VIP Frosty Paw’s Mitsubishi EVO 9 entry, the team took an overall second place at one of the countries premier endurance motor sport events.
Almost 30,000 people were in attendance at the Bathurst Motor Festival, with the long-distance 12 hour endurance event a key feature of the weekend.
Team VIP felt that an outright first place victory was well within their grasp until up to seven safety car incidents dragged the team back from a dominant leading position in the race, and enabled the eventual winners to use the advantage of the safety car to make up ground on the numerous race leads that the trio had fought hard to open up.
With tyre wear becoming a critical factor in the closing stages of the race, team VIP Pet Food Frosty Paws spate of safety car misfortune took it’s toll and enabled another team campaigning in a Mitsubishi EVO 9 to take the chequred flag in a race that should have been another team VIP Racing outright win.
The race has given both Tony and Klark a great tune up before the 2008 Rally Tasmania / Heritage Rally in Tasmania this week (15th- 17th of Feb) which they are hope will lead to further trips to the podium and continue the wining streak for the team.
Tony will be waving the Team VIP flag in the 2008 Rally Tasmania / Heritage Rally and is racing with long time navigator Keith Wenn in a Nissan GTR.
Klark will be racing at the event in a Les Walkden Rallying factory Subaru WRX STI Spec C with navigator Linda Long.
