VIP Racing News - Carrera Cup Round 7 - Gold Coast, QLD

With the end of the 2006 season in sight, Team VIP Petfoods driver Craig Baird remains in first place of the Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup, 113 points ahead of season rival Alex Davison in the championship standing.

Craig cut a menacing figure on track during the Round 7 Lexmark Indy 300 action, as he out raced half the field after being forced to start from the rear of the grid on account of his first ever DNF during race two.

Despite the DNF, Craig still managed to prove his season form, producing 3 out of 5 top three finishes, setting up what promises to be a nail biting Round 8 at the season closer at Phillip Island.

Team mates Klark and Tony also enjoyed success at the much anticipated show stopping meet, with Klark placing fourth in practice and top ten finishes for Race One & Race Three.

Team VIP Petfoods are now just one round away from clinching a coveted Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup title at Phillip Island, during the final round to be held from December 8 to 10.
