Team VIP Petfoods remains top of the grid, after a cracker of a Third Round of this years Australian Carrera Cup
After another great round of the 2006 Wright Patton Shakespeare Carrera Cup in Darwin, Team VIP Petfoods driver Craig Baird is sitting pretty at the top of the championship standings on 528 points.
After qualifying 3rd at the meet at Hidden Valley, Craig was again at the front of the grid for Round 3, helping him to win Race 1 by point two of a second, over his biggest competitor for the day Alex Davison.. After being struck by a firecracker during Territory Day celebrations the night before, team mate Tony Quinn ran the race finishing at 13, the leading driver over the age of 30, whilst Klark Quinn failed to classify.
The cracker certainly got Tony moving, placing easily in 11th in Race 2, with Craig in 2nd and Klark coming back to finish in 14th.
Craig was just too good in Race 3, securing his place at the top of the leader board, with Tony finishing 12th and Klark in 9th, his best for the day.
“It’s great to come away with another round win,” Craig said after the race, “The important thing for me is to keep building points and put the pressure on the other guys to narrow the gap.”
Team VIP Petfoods are now preparing for Round Four at Oran Park in Sydney, from the 11-13th August.
