Ten Famous Dogs

1.    Gidgit, a female Chihuahua, was featured in the famous Taco Bell advertising campaign as the "Taco Bell Chihuahua." She also played the role of Bruiser's mother in Legally Blonde

2.    Ben (II), a Golden Retriever, has appeared in many films. His characters have included Shadow in Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, William in Maybe Baby, Rusty in Purely Belter and Messenger in Made in Hong Kong.

3.    Madison, a Labrador Retriever, best known for playing the role of Vincent on the television series Lost

4.     Ashley Whippet, the first (and arguably the best) disc dog, (frisbree dog) was a famous canine athlete of the 1970s and three time winner of the Canine Frisbee Disc World Championships.

5.    Bobbie, the Wonder Dog, after accidental abandonment on a cross country trip, Bobbie made his way back over 2800 miles to his family's home.Scotch Collie/English Shepherd

6.    Laika, a female Siberian Husky mix, became the first animal to enter orbit when she was launched into space aboard Sputnik 2.

7.    Gibson, a Harlequin Great Dane, is certified by Guiness World Records as the tallest living dog at 42.2 inches. Standing on his hind legs, the 170-pound dog is over 7 feet tall.

8.    Horrie the Wog Dog, found in Egypt by Australian Forces in 1942 during World War II, saved the lives of many Australian soldiers. Horrie was refused admission back to Australia after service in Europe; he was saved by his mates smuggling him to his new home in Australia. Horrie lived out his natural life near Corryong, in rural Victoria.

9.    Faith, a bipedal female dog, was born in December of 2002[1] with only three legs; two fully-developed hind legs and a deformed front leg, which was amputated soon after birth. Her owner, Jude Stringfellow, refused to have her put to sleep as the employees at the veterinary hospital indicated she should. Instead, using a spoon with peanut butter as an incentive, Jude taught Faith to hop and later walk on her two hind legs.

10.    Rin Tin Tin – This German Shepherd was a real WWI pup immortalized by Hollywood through movies and TV. Rin Tin Tin was the name given to several German Shepherds who starred in many Warner Brothers film and television productions. Rin Tin Tin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1623 Vine St.
