In 2011, V.I.P. Petfoods is the major sponsor of the #49 VE Commodore driven by Steve Owen. It will be the Queensland-based Melbournian's first full V8 Supercars Championship.

Steve was an obvious choice, according to V.I.P. Petfoods owner Tony Quinn.

"Steve is the reigning V8 Supercars ‘development’ series champion, and he has been competitive whenever he has driven in individual rounds of the 'main gaime' championship," Tony said. "Last year he partnered Jamie Whincup in the long-distance races, winning the Gold Coast 600 and finishing second in the Bathurst 1000.

"You couldn't ask for a better track record from an up-and-coming V8 Supercars driver."

The VIP Petfoods Commodore was built by Triple 8 Racing, which also builds the Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes Commodores. During 2011 the car will be race prepared by Paul Morris Motorsport, which also prepares the Commodore of two-time Bathurst winner and 2005 V8 Supercars champion Russell Ingall.

Steve Owen is confident that he'll be a regular top 10 contender this year.

"The V.I.P. Petfoods Commores is very similar to the one I drove with Jamie Whincup last year, so it shouldn't take me long to acclimatise,” Steve said. "Even though this is my first full V8 Supercars Championshp, and my first season with VIP Petfoods Racing,I'm sure that we can give a good account of ourselves

"My goals are to qualify and race consistently in the top 10, with the occasional podium - and maybe even a race win or two!"

Tony Quinn, an accomplished racer across various motorsport disciplines, is also expecting to see the familiar paw print logo at the pointy end of the V8 Supercars field in 2011.

"The ingredients for success are there – we just need to put it all together and make it work," Tony said. “I wish Steve and the V.I.P. Petfoods V8 Supercar team every success this year."
